Solution.

To subtract two monomials subtract the coefficients of the 2 like monomials.

The coefficients of the monomials are 72.3 and 70.3.

72.3ab - 70.3ab = 2ab

Answer: 2ab.

Solution.

To subtract three monomials subtract the coefficients of the 3 like monomials.

Are all the three like monomials? No, they are not.

Only the two monomials 3a4 and 2a4 are like monomials.

To subtract two like monomials subtract the coefficients of the 2 monomials.

The coefficients of the monomials are 3 and 2.

4a6 - 3a4 - 2a4 =
4a6 - a4

Answer: 4a6 - a4.
